Award winning author, Rita D. Woods, will be discussing The Last Dreamwalker.  
The Last Dreamwalker, 2023's Chicago Book of the Year, is the story of Layla, a 20-something artist who travels to South Carolina after the unexpected death of her mother, to connect with distant relatives and hoping to find some explanation for her difficult relationship with her mother.  
Once there, she uncovers increasingly dark secrets, and a mysterious power that her mother had kept hidden from her.  
Rita will discuss family secrets, the history of the Gullah-Geechee, how ideas become stories and the wild, weird ride of writing and publishing novels.
